5.13 Solicitation
The purpose of the solicitation policy is to eliminate inappropriate or unwanted solicitation.

Solicitation
Solicitations are to be discouraged on the campus, unless an employee is acting for a charitable or service organization, and then such solicitation is not to be done during work hours of either the solicitor or the solicitee and with the understanding that the university reserves the right to cancel all solicitation privileges.
Employees may post timely notices on designated bulletin boards or on the University Portal in regards to the incidental sale of individual personal items. This excludes solicitation in the regular course of business by someone engaged in the sale of goods or services for profit.
Permission to post information in buildings must be obtained by the designated building manager.
Any individual(s) distributing literature is responsible for any fees related to the cleaning of litter related to distribution efforts.
University policy prohibits door-to-door distribution of literature and/or sales of items of any kind in any building on campus.
Solicitation in residence halls must be approved by the Residence Life Office.
Distribution of printed materials through such methods as windshield flyers is prohibited. Vendors or solicitors making such a distribution of flyers will be responsible for the cost related to the cleaning of litter related to the distribution.
Solicitation includes electioneering of any kind.
Student Organizations or Non-Profit Solicitors
For members of student organizations or non-profit solicitors, permission to solicit requires approval of an event form from the Office of Student Life.
Commercial Vendors
Any vendor wishing to conduct the sale of commercial items anywhere on university property must obtain permission from Unions and Student Activities, as well as permission from each location where the vendor may wish to conduct a sale. The vendor will be required to complete a solicitation permit in advance of the requested sales date(s). Vendors are prohibited from conducting business on campus without a fully executed solicitation permit. All vendors shall comply with the laws, rules and regulations of the United States, the State of Arizona, the Arizona Board of Regents and Northern Arizona University.
