Mentorship through IGP

A distinguishing component of IGP is the mentorship students receive both at NAU and abroad. While in the program, you will connect with mentors in both a professional and academic capacity with guidance from the IGP team.

Why is mentorship important?

A mentor is someone with knowledge and experience in your field of interest who is willing to share this knowledge to help you achieve your goals. The ideal mentor has achieved the level of success you want for yourself and can push or challenge you in ways others cannot.

IGP Mentors

Language Mentor

All IGP students are matched with a faculty mentor in the Department of Global Languages and Cultures who helps keep your language learning on track as you prepare for an immersion experience abroad. Beginning Year 2, you will work closely with your language mentor to complete four IGP language checkpoints that provide you with feedback on your language skills and mentorship to help you be successful in your year abroad.

Host Country Mentor

Your host country mentor is your internship supervisor. The host country mentor is your go to person while interning abroad who serves as a resource to understand cultural nuances in your workplace and provide advice, tips, or guidance.

The host country mentor will make sure your internship hours are being completed, you are achieving personal and work goals, and will evaluate your performance at the end of the internship experience.
