Live and learn in Flagstaff, Arizona
NAU’s School of Communication offers experiential media production and other workshops each summer in Flagstaff, AZ, one of the most beautiful cities in the United States. In Flagstaff  you’ll be living and learning on the Northern Arizona University campus at an altitude of 2,100 meters / 6,900 feet, under sunny skies with average summer temperatures of 23 degrees C / 73 degree F. You will be staying at the base of the magnificent San Francisco Peaks and its summit, Mt. Humphreys, which, at 3,850 meters / 12,660 feet, is the highest peak in Arizona.
Indigenous Youth Media Workshop at NAU
Live and learn in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Rooted in the principles of Media Justice, this workshop advocates for historically disenfranchised communities to authentically narrate their experiences.
The Indigenous Youth Media Workshop is an 11 day comprehensive hands-on, immersive media production “boot camp,” teaching high school students how to tell the stories important to them and their communities in a multimedia broadcast journalism format. Preference is given to Indigenous students.

Breda University of Applied Sciences Workshop
The Program
Live on campus and participate in a hands-on video workshop producing an original American-style video magazine program about Northern Arizona.
Curriculum
The curriculum for this workshop is designed for students with or without previous video production experience.

Hispanic/Latine Youth Media Workshop at NAU
The Hispanic/Latine Youth Media Workshop is a two-day immersive media production experience. The goals of this workshop are for students to be inspired to attend college and to feel welcome on the NAU campus. This will be a hands-on multimedia workshop, in which the students will participate in Virtual Reality, Game Design, Zine Making, Animation, and Filmmaking. NAU School of Communication Visual Communication and Creative Media and Film faculty will lead the workshop supported by Hispanic college student production assistants.
Applications closed May 20, 2024 but will reopen again February 2025.
